Third- Fifth Grade: Montessori + Project Based Learning
For our older students the Montessori and PBL approaches complement each other by fostering independence, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of content. Montessori education emphasizes self-directed learning within a carefully prepared environment, allowing students to progress at their own pace while developing autonomy, concentration, and responsibility. Project-based learning builds on this foundation by engaging students in meaningful, real-world challenges that require collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. Together, these methods nurture curiosity, encourage interdisciplinary thinking, and promote mastery through exploration and hands-on experiences. By combining Montessori and PBL, students become active participants in their learning and develop the skills needed to thrive both academically and personally.
